October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, and about 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer during her life. The American Cancer Society also recommends that women ages 40 to 44 should start annual breast cancer screenings with mammograms if they wish; women ages 45 to 54 should get mammograms every year; and women 55 and older should switch to mammograms every two years or can continue with yearly screenings while those with a family history should consult with their doctors about screening early.

2022 RIBBONS OF HOPE CHARITY BALL
This October will be the Pensacola Breast Cancer Association’s 12th Ribbons of Hope Breast Cancer Awareness Gala, an evening filled with dancing, dinner, philanthropy and an inspiring testimony of a breast cancer survivor. Locally, the Pensacola Breast Cancer Association has raised more than $750,000 to help fund mammograms for under-insured and low-income women across the Florida Panhandle by partnering with Baptist Hospital. This event is dedicated to increasing awareness and raising funds for woman that have been stricken with this devasting disease.

PINK IN THE RINK - PENSACOLA ICE FLYERS
Join the Pensacola Ice Flyers in boosting breast cancer awareness and prevention with Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Pensacola. Fans are encouraged to wear pink while the Ice Flyers will wear special edition pink jerseys during the game that will be auctioned off with replica jerseys available for purchase at merchandise booths.
